Independent Music Venues Aotearoa (IMVA) is a collective of local grassroots music venues.

IMVA is driven by its members to advocate for and support independent live music venues across the country.

Evolving from the Save Our Venues initiative, our mission is to celebrate and sustain Aotearoa’s diverse and vibrant array of venues — essential cultural infrastructure and the home of live music.

Register Now: IMVA Venues Summit 2025

Registrations are now open for the third annual IMVA Venues Summit, happening 26–27 August 2025

This two-day national gathering brings together independent music venue operators from across Aotearoa to collaborate, strategise, and celebrate our vital sector. Our theme this year is "Connecting People, Shaping Policy, Strengthening Venues."

The 2025 Summit is taking place on 26–27 August 2025 at Whammy in Auckland.

The NZ Music Commission and Independent Music NZ warmly invite all Venue Summit participants to attend the Going Global Music Summit, including its conference and showcases, on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 August at Q Theatre and Whammy.
